Argyle Legends vs Exeter Civil Service Under 18's 2012
Sunday 11th March
Argyle Legends cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory over a young Exeter Civil Service side in their latest fixture played at the Civil Service Sports Ground in Exeter.
The Legends started well on a warm day with Danny O'Hagan and Mark Damerell prominent in attack and with Ryan Cross and Darren Garner seizing control of midfield it came as no surprise when the Legends went ahead in the 6th minute, Cross expertly heading home a pin point corner from David Byrne.
The Legends were keeping the ball brilliantly against their eager opponents and it was 18 minutes before Ryan Draper was called into action, saving well from Jack Anderson. Spurred on by this effort, Draper then made a brilliant double save a minute later to preserve the Legends slender lead.
In the 23rd minute O'Hagan put the Legends 2-0 ahead with a powerful header from a Damerell cross. O'Hagan was proving difficult to handle and made it 3-0 in the 25th minute, coolly slotting home past the advancing goalkeeper.
Despite theses setbacks the home side continued to play football but found centre backs Darren Tallon and Andy Duncan in fine form. The first half ended with impressive home goalkeeper Larry Vinnels saving well from that man O'Hagan.
The home side started the second half in a determined fashion and pulled a goal back on the hour when midfielder Matt Higgins shot beat Ryan Draper.
As the game entered its' final quarter the Legends had numerous chances to extend their lead with Cross (twice), Garner and O'Hagan all going close. However there was no further scoring and the game ended in a 3-1 victory for the Legends.
