Argyle Legends extended their unbeaten run to 13 games when they defeated Saltash Veterans 2-0 at a rain swept Kimberley Stadium on Sunday.

In a first half of few chances the Legends put in a terrific team performance restricting the hosts to long range shots without really troubling the home keeper themselves. Playing a 4-5-1 formation with Bradley Swiggs the lone striker the Legends kept their shape brilliantly and almost went ahead in the 30th minute when Mark Rowe struck the crossbar with a free kick from fully 25 yards.

The Legends made two changes at half time with Paul Smith replacing the injured Geoff Battams and Mark Damerell replacing Spencer Cooper. Damerell joined Swiggs up front as the Legends switched to a 4-4-2 formation.

The second half started with Saltash on the offensive and they almost went ahead in the 46th minute, Graham Kimberley saving brilliantly from the home forward. Minutes later Saltash should have taken the lead, when Jefford shot wildly over.

The Legends were keeping the ball successfully, often stringing together 20 pass movements and were starting to dominate possession.

As the game entered the final quarter it was apparent that one goal was likely to decide the outcome and that man Swiggs was on the spot in the 78th minute tapping home from close range after a cross from Damerell.

Five minutes later Smith made it 2-0 when he slotted home from the edge of the box following a superb 24 pass move.

After 85 mins Saltash almost reduced the arrears hitting the crossbar twice in quick succession.

However it was the Legends who ran out winners to make it 13 unbeaten.
